I love Little Owls. My boss has a portable hide and he's taken some fantastic shots of woodpeckers and red squirrels in his garden ( the squirrels are at the holiday mansion in the Lakes). He was sitting so still last week, outside the hide, that a pied flycatcher actually landed on his shoulder.
I'd love to see some pics of the stilts at Far Ings NNR if you have the opportunity to catch them

I was sat for 2.5 hours last night, I did not know it was in that hole, I was waiting for it to come sit in that tree where I always see it so I was really pleased to see it was actually roosting. I don't think its got a mate...well I have only seen one on its own. Diane and I have just bought some hides from the USA, I am really pleased with mine. I have been using an home-made hide in my garden, sometimes the birds come that close to the minimum 1.8 focus of my 400 lens.

he is best man in the county for finding the rare stuff.
Do you live in Lincs, the reason I ask, Diane mentioned someone who lives in Barton on Humber, perhaps that could be you. That scene you have looking down that footpatch, that looks like the footpath going through the gate left of Ness Hide. A few years ago one July I got some great shots of a juvenile Bittern.
Thanks again for your comment.
Roy.

Great photo, Roy.
I'll have to try and get across again soon, for both the Little and Barn Owl.
Might Skype you later.

You're spot on with your identification of the footpath. I live in Winterton but travel to Hull every day so I often drop into Far Ings.
I'll check out Graham's blog right now x

Thank you so much for the tip on Graham's blog. It's brilliant. He'd got pics of the stilts that must have been taken at the same time I was there.
He'd even got an osprey. I love living round here xx
